Even more common than lack of confidence is arrogance. Arrogance is being too confidence to the point where you are hurting yourself and others, including coaches, teammates, and parents.
Arrogance really isn't that bad of a thing. Players that are arrogant often play better because they know they will play great. This guide will not try to take away that feeling (because really that feeling should be your goal), to teach you to turn your arrogance into confidence. Confidence is great, arrogance is not.
What's the Difference Between Confidence and Arrogance?
1. Confident players improve their weaknesses and gain more confidence. Arrogant players think they don't have any weaknesses.
2. Arrogance sometimes comes from insecurity. Players that are arrogant may be arrogant because they are insecure about there play. This leads to thinking that it is never their fault, it is only the fault of teammates, coaches, etc.
3. Arrogance leads to selfishness. Arrogant players often hog the ball, or take shots from everywhere. Confident players know that they can and will score, beat players, etc, but they also know that they can't do it all.
4. Arrogant people don't listen. They don't take advice given to them by teammates, coaches, parents, etc. Confident players know that others are just trying to help, and can take their advice.

- Get extremely mad when taken out because you think you should never be taken out.

Once you find the problem, attack it at it's source. If people telling you how great you are is the problem, take it humbly. Know that you are only part of a team, and without your teammates, you would be nowhere.
If you have an arrogant personality, you need to really focus on being less arrogant. Try passing the ball more, giving compliments to teammates, following the advice or coaches, and controlling your temper. Things like these will move you farther away from arrogance.
Fixing Arrogance Can Only Be Done By You
For the most part, beating arrogance isn't about how you do it, but if you are trying to do it. Remember that you are only facing yourself. All you need to do it make changes, and you will keep moving closer to defeating your arrogance.
